
In 1947, when Japan's defeat in war II, it re-assumed its original name. With the beginning of the new university system in 1949, Todai engulfed up the previous 1st Higher faculty (today's Komaba campus) and also the former Yedo Higher faculty, that thereafter assumed the duty of teaching first- and sophomore undergraduates, whereas the colleges on Hongo main field took care of third- and last students.

According to the Japan Times, the university had one,282 professors in Gregorian calendar month 2012. Of those, fifty eight were ladies.
In the fall of 2012 and for the primary time, the University of Yedo started 2 undergrad programs entirely schooled in English and double-geared toward international students — Programs in English at Komaba (PEAK) — the International Program on Japan in East Asia and also the International Program on Environmental Sciences.
